Overview:
- Leads the development and implementation of the Project SAFETY program utilizing Parsons Safety Health and Risk Process.
- Reviews all contract documents related to the Project for SAFETY related issues.
- Reviews contractor safety and health programs along with a description of the hazards particular to their work and their nominees for key SAFETY positions.
- Recommends the approval/disapproval of the nominees to the Construction Manager.
- Works diligently with Customer, project staff, direct reports, and contractors in strictly enforcing the contract SAFETY provisions, including compliance with the Project Safety Plan, OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1910 and 1926), and other applicable SAFETY standards.
- Participates in meetings with Project personnel and Contractors (such as pre award and pre-construction conferences, etc.) to outline and explain the Project health and SAFETY program and other SAFETY related aspects of the contracts as appropriate.
- Conducts SAFETY audits through review and analysis of performance, SAFETY records and SAFETY inspections of all project companies.
- Organizes and conducts SAFETY training as necessary.
Essentials:
- 4-year degree in safety, industrial hygiene or related field, or 10+ years of related work experience.
- Certified SAFETY Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation is preferred.
- Experience with applying behavior based SAFETY techniques is preferred.
- Evidence of supervisory initiative, judgment and ability required to assume the total leadership for a complete SAFETY program.
- Ability to research pertinent facts, data and other information from internal and external sources.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient use of computer and corresponding programs – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Safety Coordinator (2-4-08)

We are currently accepting applications for Safety Coordinator for our Memphis office. This position will serve as the chief on-site safety officer for OCS to ensure compliance with company policies and EPA, DOT and OSHA regulations. They will be responsible for on-site safety inspections and audits, as well as leading any accident investigations. We require a minimum of three years’ experience in either construction or a general industry environment, some college experience, good written and verbal communication skills, strong work ethic, and the ability to travel (up to 75%). OSHA OTI 500 and 511 courses, 40 Hour Hazwoper Certification as well as completion of professional safety certifications (CHST, OHST) are preferred.

Regional Safety Manager

Our client is currently seeking a Regional Safety Manager to join our team based in Northern NJ. This position will collaborate with Operations' leadership, cross-functional departments, and Health & Safety teams of assigned locations, to drive Health & Safety strategies, activities and decision-making processes. Reporting to the Director, Health & Safety, the Regional Safety Manager will provide leadership and subject matter expertise to support regional efforts to reduce workers' compensation costs, identify and anticipate hazards, perform risk assessments, and develop and implement effective processes that prevent unacceptable risks and maintain company and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Insure effectiveness of the company safety program and oversee corrective/improvement efforts.
- Aggressively manage Worker's Compensation partners to ensure efficient case processing/management and reduce costs in the region.
- Direct key compliance efforts, safety programs, past and current losses for the purpose of prioritizing and directing safety-training requirements.
- Direct and assist in the development and implementation of compliance programs such as those required by EPA, OSHA, FDA, and any state-mandated programs.
Actively participates in monthly Safety Committee meetings comprised of employees and management and assist in the evaluation and direction of the program.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree (related field preferred).
- CSP, ASP, ARM or other safety/risk related certification preferred.
- 3 years Health and Safety experience in service or manufacturing environment.
- Thorough understanding of D.O.T and OSHA standards and regulations
Working knowledge of effective Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Control Techniques.
- Knowledge and experience with Accident Investigation Techniques.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment and act with a sense of urgency.
- Self motivated and able to contribute individually as well as part of a team.
- Solid PC skills including knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Effective oral, written, and presentation skills, and the ability to facilitate and participate in leadership and team development activities.
